About our Center
Our center, established within Iğdır University, carries out activities on fruit and fruit sapling production. It is especially focused on coordinating the research, application, education and extension activities to be carried out by our University, supporting the activities of the relevant academic units such as education, training, travel, examination, internship, project and thesis work, applying and developing modern breeding and breeding methods, introducing them to producers and students and training them when necessary, establishing cooperation mechanisms that will contribute to regional and national development and creating the institutional environment necessary to make them sustainable.
While carrying out its activities, the Fruit Growing Application and Research Center is in harmony and integration with Iğdır University Faculty of Agriculture. Especially the academic staff and students of the Department of Horticulture are defined as the main stakeholders.
Application and Research Centers transform academic knowledge into practical applications and respond to social needs. They support university-industry cooperation, develop innovative projects and play an important role at regional and national level. These centers conduct research in different disciplines, carry out projects and provide services to the society. Iğdır University Fruit Growing Application and Research Center is a structure that focuses on application-based studies and research activities.
The fields of activity of our center are as follows:
a) To provide appropriate space, materials and services for the application courses, practical studies, internships, thesis and research projects foreseen in the associate, undergraduate and graduate education programs of vocational schools, faculties and institutes related to fruit growing, fruit and sapling production, research and applications at the University.
b) To establish or contribute to the establishment of the necessary infrastructure for fruit growing, fruit and sapling production.
c) To prepare projects and reports on fruit growing, fruit and sapling production, to provide consultancy and expert services, to carry out projects to solve environmental problems arising from plant production, to organize training programs for the producers within the University and in the region and to ensure coordination between the units on these issues.
ç) To cooperate with the public and private sectors in relation to fruit growing, fruit and sapling production, to support and conduct scientific research with projects, to become a partner when necessary, and to offer all kinds of production for sale within the scope of the legislation on revolving funds.
d) To enable all kinds of publications in line with the objectives of the Center, to create a data and documentation center, to organize educational programs such as congresses, panels, conferences, symposiums, workshops, courses and seminars at national and international level, to cooperate with relevant public institutions and non-governmental organizations and to develop research opportunities.
e) To provide resources, research materials and workspace for researchers, to conduct scientific research with projects.
f) To ensure that the activities of the Center comply with the rules on biosafety and bioethics and to conduct audits in this regard.
g) To carry out other similar activities in accordance with the purpose of the Center.
